We have been so happy with this system for our 30-pound feisty Schnauzer mix... he has been very responsive and needed only a tiny bit of correction from the collar on the first few days. We trust this fence daily and highly recommend it! It's a great and cost-effective alternative to a buried underground wire, and requires very little setup. The only thing you need to do is determine where to place it in your house. It sends a signal in a circle (you can define the size of the circle), so you might need to experiment with placement until you're satisfied with the reach of the "safe zone." Only down side is there's no "gate area" -- to leave the yard, you need to either take the dog's collar off or turn off the system.
