The PetSafe Wireless Instant Fence pet containment system is the easiest, most portable way to set your pet's boundaries. Covers 1/2 acres! 24,000 square feet and a radius of 90 feet. No underground wires to install and no need to dig up your lawn to install this instant pet fence.

Instant Fence uses a constant radio signal to create a "stay zone." A pet that leaves the area receives a mild correction until he returns - - which means that Instant Fence is nearly escape-proof.

Plugs into standard 110 volt outlet. Signal can transmit reliably through walls or other household obstructions, so transmitter can be placed in any convenient and discreet location in your house, typically a garage or closet. A small dial allows you to adjust the signal area.

HOW INSTANT FENCE WORKS: You plug in a transmitter somewhere inconspicuously in your home. Transmitter emits a radio signal around your home. Your pet wears a lightweight receiver collar that listens for the signal. While the collar is receiving the signal, your dog is free to run and play. When the dog approaches the boundary of the signal area, the pet receives a warning beep. A pet that continues to move toward the boundary will receive a light static energy pulse that is startling but not harmful. With a little training that is simple and quick, your pet quickly learns its boundaries. Setting the boundaries of your yard takes only a few minutes by adjusting the range on the transmitter, from a radius of just a few feet to up to 90 feet.

TRAINING YOUR DOG TO RECOGNIZE THE INSTANT FENCE BOUNDARIES: Once you have adjusted the signal to the perimeter you want, mark the boundary by placing small training flags at the edge of the signal area. Then, using a leash and holding the collar, walk your pet around the boundary, pointing and shaking the flags, saying "NO," and letting your pet hear the beeping of the collar. Next, let your pet wear the collar and walk the boundary again. Let it, on its own, venture into the signal area and get the correction. Quickly pull it back into its yard and praise and play with it, again pointing to the flags and saying "NO." Repeat this process each day for a few weeks, and your dog will quickly learn its new boundaries. After 30 days you can gradually remove the flags.

I really like this system, because there are no wires to bury or become damaged. It helps keep my pet safe. We live near a busy street and without this system, I fear that my pet would have gotten hit by a vehicle.

The range is a 90' radius circle adjustable down to almost a few feet, so it can fit in an average sized yard. However if you have a very big yard and want to give your dogs more room, get an underground system -- that is the ONLY reason to not get this one. Setup can't be easier. Plug it in, done.. This wireless fence has worked perfectly for our border collie mix. We tried the underground wire system a few years ago but had many problems with repairing the wire.
